Asus has confirmed that its upcoming flagship smartphone, the HTC U14, will launch in India on November 12.
In the wake of the company’s $650m takeover of Samsung Electronics last year, Asus is now looking to cash in on the growing smartphone market with the launch of the HTC-made U14.
The HTC U series, including the U14 and the U11, has been in the works for quite some time.
The U series was announced in October last year alongside the U10 and U11 models, both of which were based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip.
The phones featured a 5.5-inch 1080p display, which was a huge leap over the 720p display on the U9 and U8.
The two models were both powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon 800 processor, which made the phones quite fast.
The U series also featured a dual-camera setup, with the front-facing camera taking the photos while the rear-facing cameras captured the video.
Asus’ U series has also been rumored to include a fingerprint scanner, which is currently rumored to be in the U7 and U9 models.
The specs and specifications for the U series were announced in August and the device’s specifications have since been confirmed to be similar to the flagship smartphones of Xiaomi and Lenovo.
Both the U12 and U13 have been spotted with 8GB of RAM and a 1,800mAh battery.
The Snapdragon 835 is also on board for the HTC devices.
Both the U15 and U16 will be available in India starting November 13.
Both models are said to pack a Snapdragon 810 chipset, which should allow the phones to run on a variety of devices including smartphones, tablets and even smartphones running Android 4.4 KitKat.
